Indonesia Travel Trends 2026: Key Insights from ITB Berlin

Indonesia in the Global Spotlight

As part of our participation in ITB Berlin 2026, we had the opportunity to engage directly with global travel professionals and observe firsthand how Indonesia continues to gain strong attention on the international stage.

Throughout the event, we saw increasing interest from key markets particularly Europe, where travelers are seeking destinations that offer a unique blend of nature, culture, and authentic experiences.

From well established destinations like Bali to emerging highlights such as Labuan Bajo, Indonesia is no longer perceived as just a leisure destination. It is increasingly recognized as a versatile destination for luxury travel, experiential journeys, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).

Key Travel Trends Shaping Indonesia in 2026.

One of the most notable insights we gathered from ITB Berlin is the clear shift in traveler preferences. Today, travel is no longer just about visiting destinations, it is about creating meaningful experiences.

Across our discussions with partners and buyers, several key trends stood out:

  • A growing demand for authentic cultural immersion
  • Increased interest in nature-based and outdoor experiences
  • Strong awareness of sustainable and responsible tourism
  • Preference for smaller, more personalized journeys

Destinations such as Komodo National Park and Raja Ampat continue to gain attention for their exclusivity and natural beauty, while Bali is evolving into a more experience driven destination.

These trends reinforce Indonesia’s position as a destination rich in diversity and storytelling.

What Travel Agents Are Looking For Today?

Through our meetings at ITB Berlin, we also gained valuable insights into what travel agents and partners are prioritizing when working with destinations like Indonesia.

We observed a strong demand for:

  • Reliable local partners with solid on ground presence
  • Fast and responsive communication
  • Flexible and customizable travel solutions
  • Seamless coordination for increasingly complex itineraries

As Indonesia grows in popularity, travel agents are looking for partners who can not only design experiences, but also ensure smooth execution and consistent service quality.

Our experience at ITB Berlin 2026 confirms that Indonesia continues to be a high potential destination, with growing demand across multiple markets.

At Smailing Tour DMC, we are well positioned to support our partners in capturing these opportunities. With our dedicated teams across Indonesia, including our branch offices in Labuan Bajo and Yogyakarta we provide:

  • Fast and reliable on ground support
  • Tailor made itineraries based on current travel trends
  • Strong coordination with trusted local partners
  • End to end handling of travel arrangements

As travel behavior continues to evolve, having the right local partner becomes increasingly important.

We invite you to collaborate with us and turn these insights into successful Indonesia journeys. Arrange your Indonesia trips with us for seamless planning, trusted execution, and unforgettable experiences.

Indonesia is not only growing, it is evolving. And together, we can make the most of the opportunities ahead.

B ackpacks Full of Dreams, Opportunity for kids Every backpack tells a story, not just school supplies, but an opportunity. It carries not only books and pencils, but also confidence, opportunity, and the excitement of stepping into a classroom ready to learn. At Smailing Tour DMC , we believe that travel is also about creating genuine connections with the communities that make every destination special. With that belief, we proudly partnered with Pencil For Kids . A community initiative supporting children education across the world. Their mission to provide essential school supplies, helping children access the tools they need for a better learning experience and a brighter future. Last month (July), that purpose came to life. Hundreds of backpacks made their way into the hands of children across Bali, especially North Bali. Every backpack was carefully prepared with school essentials including notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other learning materials.

Discover the Timeless Charm of Yogyakarta When travelers think of Indonesia, destinations such as Bali often come to mind first. Yet in the heart of Java lies a destination that continues to captivate visitors with its rich heritage, living traditions, and authentic experiences. Yogyakarta offers a unique glimpse into Indonesia's cultural soul, making it one of the country's most rewarding destinations for travelers seeking more than just sightseeing. As the center of Javanese culture and home to some of Indonesia's most iconic landmarks, Yogyakarta remains a must visit destination for those looking to experience the country's history, traditions, and local way of life.
